the bent ridge of a cart saddle srathair. Shaw gives further the meanings "plank, ship, fusec (cairb a' ghunna) (Rob), chariot"; Irish corb, coach. The word is the primary stem from which carbad, chariot, springs; See carbad. As "fusee" or "fisil", i.e., "musket", it seems a curtailed form of cairbinn.
